This article covers information for Spring international visiting students who wish to extend their Extension health insurance coverage into summer.
Eligibility
Spring students may opt in for an extension of their school health insurance plan into the summer if:
- You are enrolled in the Spring Extension Health Insurance Plan in the Spring semester, AND
- You will enroll in Summer Session classes, or
- You will continue your studies in the Fall semester, or
- You will be on F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT), or
- You will be on J-1 Academic Training (AT)
Students who wish to remain in the U.S. during their grace period and don't meet the qualifications above, are not eligible to extend their school health insurance plan. However, we can recommend other health insurance plans to you.
How to Request an Extension
In order to enroll in extended coverage or if you have any further questions, please contact Student Services at concurrent@berkeley.edu. Immediate payment will be required in order to extend your health insurance.
