Our housing website is a great resource to start your search. It lists local housing providers our visiting students have stayed with in the past. These providers are familiar with visiting students’ needs, and offer short-term (one- or two-semester) leases for furnished and unfurnished housing in Berkeley and San Francisco.
You can also join our International Housing Forum Facebook group, which is specifically for students in our visiting student programs. There, you’ll find student posts with housing opportunities (e.g., leases you can take over) and you can also search for roommates. Please make sure to indicate your SID when requesting to join the group as your request won't be approved otherwise.
Cal Rentals is another great option specifically for UC Berkeley students looking for housing on the private rental market. You will need your CalNet credentials to log in to the platform.
Lastly, we also suggest searching through public-facing websites and housing portals that allow you to search for rentals and search by price range, location, and housing types. Please note that most of these websites aren't specifically designed for students so the listings you see may not offer short-term leases and not all landlords or property managers may be familiar with international students.
